Bad news! Nguyen Vu Quan died in 24/11/2009 at the age of 26.
This time, he was still Vietnamese champion. (He got that title in 3 years 2004, 2005 and 2009).

Are you sure?
From the look of Quan in the picture, he must be older than 26 year old!

Yes, I’m afraid it’s true. Here is a link.
Nguyen Vu Quan (1983 – November 24, 2009 in Hanoi) was a chess player in Vietnam. He was a three time winner of the national championship in Vietnam (including two consecutive in 2004 and 2005, and 2009), and won medals in the World Xiangqi Championship (the bronze medal in Paris, 2005).
After winning world bronze medal in 2005, Nguyen Vu Quan was the title of Special room international university professor (equivalent to International Grandmaster in chess). This is the style players for the international title of Special Ambassador to children of Vietnam.
Due in part inspired by the life, a bad health, Nguyen Vu Quan died of illness in the family in Hanoi in November 2009.
R.I.P Nguyen Vu Quan.

Thanks, cj, for giving the link of the news on Nguyen Vu Quan. It is very sad, indeed. He was so young and already accomplished so much. Having born in Vietnam myself, I wished I had a chance to get to know him.
